Start: 1.10.2026
Location: Munich
Job Description:
As an RF Validation & Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in validating next-generation cellular modem and RF technologies by developing automated test solutions, executing RF validation campaigns, and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. You will contribute to ensuring product quality through advanced RF measurements, test automation, and systematic root cause analysis across the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain automated test routines within hardware regression test frameworks in close collaboration with tooling and validation teams.
- Configure, calibrate, modify, and maintain RF test benches, including device-under-test (DUT) integration and hardware setup optimization.
- Implement and enhance automated test systems to expand RF test coverage and continuously improve validation efficiency.
- Perform RF measurements using industry-standard communication testers and RF instrumentation for cellular technologies in both signaling and non-signaling test modes.
- Execute and support RF regression test campaigns for cellular modem validation.
- Investigate RF test failures by performing systematic root cause analysis and working closely with design, firmware, and system engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Support seamless validation between pre-silicon simulations and post-silicon hardware by correlating test data and ensuring consistency throughout the development process.
- Conduct manual RF validation activities, including component characterization, environmental testing, thermal chamber operation, system self-tests, and measurement accuracy optimization.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with specialization in RF Engineering, Wireless Communications, or Microwave Engineering.
- Professional experience in RF validation, wireless communication systems, or modem testing is highly desirable.
- Strong expertise in RF fundamentals, RF measurement techniques, and operation of advanced RF test equipment for cellular wireless technologies.
- Hands-on experience in characterization, validation, and debugging of RF cellular systems and components within laboratory environments.
- Excellent programming skills in Python, C/C++, and/or MATLAB for developing automated hardware/software test solutions.
- Solid understanding of 3GPP cellular standards (3G, 4G/LTE, and 5G NR) with emphasis on RF performance and validation.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting hardware specifications for cellular transceivers, RF front-end modules, and related components.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams including Hardware Design, Firmware, Systems Engineering, and Validation.
- Strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving skills, and the ability to independently drive technical investigations.
- Excellent communication skills, collaborative mindset, and willingness to work in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
